We recommend maintenance lessons for your child. Talk to your instructor about how to sign up for these classes when your child completes the original 3 - 6 week program.
This answer was originally written by Kristine McCarren PT, DPT and has been modified with additional information.
A common question (and frustration) we see expressed regarding Infant Self-Rescue Swim Lessons is “Why only 10 minutes?” Many people can’t wrap their head around packing their infant or toddler up to drive to the pool and have them swim for a maximum ten-minute lesson. “What can you possibly get done in 10 minutes?’ they ask, or “Can’t you just do once a week for 50 minutes?”
There are four main reasons that these lessons are so short and frequent: breath control, learning efficiency, predictability and practice conditions.
Click here for a comprehensive explanation to these four main reasons.
The registration fee supports our staff and includes a non-disposable swim diaper (children 3 and younger) and a wet bag. Students will also receive a swim medal upon graduation.
We try to take videos of students for social media purposes. If the video is quality and can be edited, we will send you an email with information on how to see the video and download it. Underwater video is not part of our service and is not guaranteed.
We have rolling enrollment for our program which means that when one student graduates, we start a new student the following week! This means our availability relies on current students graduations.
At registration, we ask you to select the best time of day for your child and then you will see a list of available start dates. Once your registration is complete, you will get a confirmation email.
You will not hear from us until about 1-week before the start date you selected. We will reach out to you the the week before your child's selected start date to offer you available time spots within your requested time block.
For example, if you select the 8:00-9:30AM time block to start June 2nd, we will reach out to you (typically via text and then call if no reply) the week before September 2nd to let you know what time spots are opening for the following week.
Our program scheduler will text your family - for example - "Hi! We are looking forward to seeing your family next week. Currently, your instructor has 8:20am, 9:00am or 9:20am available. Which of those work best for your family?"
You will confirm your time with our scheduler and they will send you all of your first day lesson information. Once your lessons are confirmed, your child will be able to stay in that time spot for the course of their lessons and you do not need to register for each week. You only need to register for your child's first day and your child can attend lessons as long as they need.
